The easiest and cheapest way to connect different measuring devices in a network is the RS485 serial line.

The RS485 standard interface enables a multi-point connection. Between PC and the network, it is required a Serial RS232 to RS485 Converter (CV3285M).

For connection between the different devices, it is requested a twisted pair cable. The maximum recommended length for a connection is about 1200m at 9600 baud. For longer length it is suggested to set a lower baud rate or to use a lower attenuation cable or better to mount signal repeaters (RPT85). The repeater is also suggested when more than 32 meter per line are mounted.

The CV3285M is a serial converter from the standard RS232 to RS485 (RS422 selectable). CV3285M automatically detects the signal direction. This guarantees complete compatibility with all Microsoft WINDOWS® versions and with all passive devices, such as modems.
CV3285M guarantees galvanic insulation between the two interfaces, so that ground loop problems are prevented and safety is assured for the PC user.
